Prakriti’
THE NATURE CLUB founded by Mr. Virmani in 1995 started out with
just a handful of students dedicated to spreading an awareness concerning
the environment amongst their peers. Today under our teacher’s able
guidance, the club has increased in strength and its activities
are far reaching. Its motto ‘Think Globally, Act locally’, has become
an anthem of sorts for its members. ‘Prakriti’ tries to inculcate
in its members the sensitivity to feel from within for Nature. It
teaches students to protect and preserve and not destroy.
Some of its achievements include
planting nearly 200 trees all around Modern School and clearing up the area
behind the Platinum Jubilee Block. The club had campaigned extensively against
the use of crackers during Diwali and had received and overwhelming response. It
had also participated in the Panchvati Movement, which aimed at preserving
nature.
Last year 5 of the club students
- Himani Arora, Shilpa Soni, Vasundhara Muthu, Mansi Sehgal, Mandira Biswas and
3 of our teachers - Mrs. Malini Khatri, Mr. P.P. Virmani and Mr. P.K. Jain were
the given the prestigious CUTE (Clean Up The Earth) Award. ‘Prakriti’ has
proved the once students of Modern School join hands and pledge themselves to a
cause, there is no stopping them. Back
