Sports at Modern School

An overview

Modern school provides the children with the best sporting equipment in the whole of Delhi. It is the only school to have an Olympic size pool as well as two grounds where the games such as football, hockey etc... are initiated. Children who are a part of the school team attend the morning practice in the school for extra training and extra fitness.

Sports facilities in Modern School Barakhamba Road are:

  • Athletics is a term encompassing the human competitive sports and encompassing the human competitive sports and games requiring physical skill, and the system of training that prepare athletes for competition performance.

    A 200mts track, long jump pit, shot put area and 100 mts track.

    Badminton is a racquet sport plated using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are “singles” and “doubles”

    4 indoor badminton courts with synthetic flooring in a fully Air conditioned Hall.

  • Coach: Mr. Rajesh Kumar

    A game played between two teams of five players in which goals are scored by throwing a ball through a netted hoop fixed at each end of the court. Netting balls in the basket after intense dribbling is not just what the discipline of basketball is all about. It is to have the skill of sportsmanship in every move that one makes and avoid placing the cart horse is what basketball is all about.

  • A board game of strategic skill for two players played on a chequered board on which each playing piece is moved according to precise rules. The object is to put the opponent’s king under a direct attack from which escape is impossible.

    An open air game played on a large grass field with ball bats and two wickets between teams of eleven players, the more runs than the opposition

  • An equestrian is an expert horseback rider, if you only go riding for an hour while on vacation you aren’t an equestrian, but the person leading the group and riding the flashy horse probably is. When you know that equus is the Latin word for “horse” the meaning of equestrian becomes clear Horses embody freedom, spirit, adventure perseverance and drive. Horse are gentle, loyal fierce friends and ultimate travel companions who are willing to go the distance with you. Equestrian as a sport has indeed found its place in the MODERN family fold and indulge in making its mark in both national and international events

  • Football is a family of sports that involve, to varying degrees, kicking a ball to score a goal. Unqualified,the word football is understood to refer to whichever form of football is the most popular in the regional context in which the word appears.

    People who work togetherwill win , whether it be against complex football defence or the problems of modern society. The MODERN fields groom individuals who show spunk and imbibelessons of integrity both on and off the field. Kudos to our boys and girls! A lot of PELES and MESSIS are on the anvil!

  • Agame played on the field by two teams who try to drive a puck or ball through a goal by hitting it with a stick A good hockey plays where the puck is. A great hockey player plays where the puck is going to be. Modern has taken on its shoulders to catapult hockey as the national sport.

  • Squash is a racquet sport played by two or four players in a four walled court with a small, hollow rubber ball. The players must alternate in striking the ball with their racquet and hit the ball onto the playable surface of the four walls of the court Cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance and flexibility!   • Table tennis, also known as ping pong, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball back and forth across a table using a small paddle. The game takes place on a hard divided by a net. The game is well on the way to produced stalwarts on the MODERN table tennis tarmacs.

    A game in which two or four players strike a ball with racquets over a net stretched across a court. The usual form is played with a felt-covered hollow rubber ball on al glass, clay or artificial surface.

    Tennis is all about mental toughness, and you have to keep you head in the game. Reining volleys to thwart the love all, minimising it to hold court for the winner. Hallelujah! to the SPORTS aficionados at MODERN.
